TBS - the package

This sublime colab between Tokyo Black Star, Slam Jam and Innervisions is one of the best music packaging I've seen in a while. The paintings the japanese artist Tomukazu Matsuyama has created for each single track are printed inside the cd booklet and then accompanied with a silk scarf printed with one of those same artworks [6 options available] ....not forgetting its such a great album too [perfect drive ride if you ask me, in a similar vein to C2 'Landcruisin']!!!

This saturday I'll have the pleasure to visit the brand new Elefante Rosso club in Mestre-Venezia. A new effort from Rah of Morphine fame, this is basically a jazz club with a real underground ethos. Linked to the omonimous label [check the first 2 release for some real deepness], they already had guests like Cro Magnon live from Japan and soon more heavy musicians will play their freestyle tuesdays sessions. Weekends its more on the dj tip, I will do a set of 360° vocal music!

POMPIERE

Here in Verona there is one restaurant I can suggest straight away: Trattoria al Pompiere!
I love the black and white pictures on the wall, the vibe of the owner and the staff and of course the food and wine selection. Been there many times and I have so many memories.
I don't eat meat that much but I just can't resist to their Tartare wich lately I've been accompanying with La Bandina from Tenuta Sant'Antonio [thanx Lu!].

italian excellence

2009.05.11 01:01 AM

Havent updated the blog much in the last weeks. Been caught up in preparing to move flat and checking all the decorations, paintings and the furniture I have to buy [oh Je$u$!!!] for the new one.
The best thing of this research process was to discover so many italian manifacturers [from ceramics to sofas, lamps to wood floors] that really stand out in term of quality and design.
A company I particularly liked is this one, Modulnova [a great alternative to Varenna and Boffi if you dont have the deepest pockets]:

I never considered myself a movie buff, but there are few directors I really really love...one is Nanni Moretti. I have several favourites among his catalogue, but certainly Bianca has always been the one for me. I just found this amazing monologue he does in the movie on youtube [yes he often act in his movies too]:
