This sunday I'll be playing some tunes for the Soul Alliance crew outta Isola della Scala, Verona. A nice old villa with a swimming pool as location and plenty of good records from Turbo, Trenti and myself. Some old faces like my main austrian man Claus will be in the house too! If you are in the area, is definetly recommended...
Just back from another great sunday evening in Torino. I have been invited to join Ksoul's Kindasundays monthly events and has been a real pleasure for me. The location, the Beach club, is in front of the Pò river in an area called Murazzi where people can hang out and forget they are right in the middle of a city with 35 degrees! Stefano Ksoul [check his super solid label] is a great host and sets the mood of the nights with a lovelee deep detroit influenced selection with some old school new york/new jersey house touches thrown in. There i mix the Rons, Glenns, Osunlades and Pevens with few disco cuts and other really musical house numbers. Look forward for the next one, with Detroit's Scott Ferguson. Torino stand up!!!
I've been a fan of what Aybee does as a producer and label manager for few years by now. Here there's the latest project on his amazing Deepblack label: the Blacktropolis 2 compilation. A collection of challenging and futuristic yet soulful tracks from Aybee and his crew [Fred P, Afrikan Sciences, Erik Rico, Blacktroniks]. For the djs out there I highly recommend his version of Ron Trent 'Manifesto' and my fave song on the comp: Aybee ft Omega 'Every kind of Way'.
The label somehow reminds me some of the early times at Archive, especially in '97-'99 with the release of the Nubian Mindz material.
