Bumped into the super cool Henry Leutwyler, who just returned from Michael Jackson's Neverland. He got to shoot loads of old MJ paraphernalia that was set to be auction in a few weeks, until Michael put a stop to it.

Back in the house Tuesday featuring Italy's SUPER VALUE crew and miss DEVA MAHAL on vocals. Upstairs, the crew from Raw Fusion reigns supreme with special guest SIMBAD. 10pm.
Sincere apologies for the delay, but that's how it is sometimes.
I tried to make up for it by including as many extra goodies as I could. This month it's all about the forthcoming album from Mitsu the Beats - heavy! Shout out to Taro and the whole Jazzy Sport crew. Also, more quality hip hop from Snowman Jack producing Magestik Legend on the interesting new label from Detroit, Exchange Bureau. On the soulful tech tip, the man Arto Mwambe keeps the jams coming, Ibex comes out of hiding and Isoul8 switches gears to channel Roy Ayers. Finally, Italy's SuperValue crew are dropping some serious edit pressure - check them out at the upcoming MFT night in NYC.
Enjoy and spread the word.

Just checked out the new documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor.
I love going behind the scenes with true masters of their craft. Very well done and highly recommended

Dilla's legacy continues to shine. Respect to Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Carlos Nino for arranging this.

Amazing.

Look out for the man Karriem Riggins on the drums. His Music Kaleidecope sampler promises big things to come.

Feeling the new album. And if you haven't seen it yet, this is one of the best videos of last year.

It's a few days late, but I have to say congratulations to the University of North Carolina for taking the NCAA title this year. After last years disappointing loss it was nice to see them come back stronger than ever.

Carolina has been my team since childhood... Seriously.
My neighborhood of 7 years, Fort Greene, is definitely changing. The first few warm days of the year have produced a whole new crop of residents, for better or for worse. Esteemed author and culture blogger Nelson George wrote an interesting article today in the NY Times about it.

I'm always impressed by the clever graphic and product design from the Wilson Brothers, each talented in his own right. Check the one of a kind fixed bike they produced for the 25th anniversary of the Air Force One at Dover Street Market.

I recently met a really great photographer named James Mollison.
I especially like this project "The Disciples", in which he decided to document the behavior of music fans.
Could you guess these artists by their fans?
Answer: Marilyn Manson, P-Diddy, Rod Stewart, Motorhead

I have to admit I've been sleeping on this interesting retail experiment from J. Crew.
They've quietly taken over an old liquor store in Tribeca and stocked it with a mix of men's clothing and vintage watches, sunglasses, magazines etc. Well worth a look. Thanks to Miguel for the photo.

Recloose has been my boy since way back.. I mean, since the 'Bubblicious' days at Ann Arbor and his college radio show. So its been cool to watch his evolution over the last few years. He's one of the top DJs and producers on this whole scene if you ask me.
He recently got back into the radio game, courtesy of George FM in New Zealand. They don't broadcast the shows, so he's set up a little blog to post them and keep track of his other runnings. Highly recommended. Oh yeah, here's a few classic shots from early Rude days courtesy of Mr Ross.

Recloose demo circa '96.

On a similar tip, I also suggest checking out Mad Mats' blog outta Sweden. Loads of jams. He's done all the digging, so you don't have to.

Now I'll be the first to admit that I was a little skeptical of this guy who seemingly co-opted my man's name (remember Shawn J. Period?). And I'm not really a modern day mixtape head... BUT, after hearing the De La version of Excursions, I had to check out the full album, and impressed I was. A memorable journey through Tribe history. Get it.
