Dam Funk at My Favorite Things June 2009. Photos by Jason Lewis. RIP Ricoh GR II.
The New York Times did a nice piece on the man too.

Not only the most amazing performer of all time, but he had a lot of style too.

Happy father's day to my Dad and my 85 yr old gradfather, Dr. Walp. Still cool.
Keeping it bouncing this month with a bit of jazz upfront.
Waajeed weighs in with a cover of Thom Browne's "Jamaica Funk" and the Super Value guys do it again with a great edit of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway's "Together Again". Some nice French bits in there from the amazing Soulab Records (the return of Les Nubians?) and Frank Roger. And feeling techy too with brand new works from Kez YM, Recloose and Seiji. Oh yeah there's a little interlude from the new Leon King EP, more info soon come.
Head over to Time Out NY for a special edited version in anticipation of next week's party with DAM-FUNK. Be there.

MFT returns next Tuesday with an amazing lineup for you. We've got DAM-FUNK in the house from LA bringing his soul, funk and boogie sound. He's been making big noise recently with his productions for Stones Throw and parties like Funkmosphere in Culver City. I'm really excited about this one.
Also joining us is long time friend and influential dj from Berlin Dirk Rumpff. Dirk has been hosting his Offtrack Radio show for many years now and has a production outfit called Season & Sygaire with Roskow from Jazzanova.
All the regular crew will be in the house as usual. RSVP now.

If you are in the NYC area, stop by 125 Rivington Street and check out the abstract works of Cyrill Gutsch aka Strange Matter.

Arkitip recently published their first "Arkitip Intel Newspaper Supplement" featuring content from all of the reporters involved with the site. I love how they've taken something so inherently digital and made it into a printed piece -- it works. Shouts to Tony.
Last week we had an amazing night at the temporary gallery space created by friends Robi Bear & Leanne Wright. So many great people from around the globe were in the house. I felt truly bless-ed to know such talented and cool friends.

They took over a cool storefront which used to be an infamous clothing spot Dapper Dan's Imperial Clothes-- which was often quoted in hip hop lyrics of old.

Much of their work is music related. Anything look familiar here?

Ian Wright and Mr Bear.

My good friends Claus and Ella came from Vienna, as well as super producers Christian from AME and Aril Brikah.

Always good to see Wendy Dembo and her cute daughter.

A couple of my musical heroes in the makeshift dj booth: Alex from Tokyo, Ge-ology and Dego.

The afterparty was really special too. Thanks Nat and Zhara.
Our man Ibrahim is becoming a media expert on the growing attention on Muslims in America. After Obama's speech in Cairo last week, he was approached by many news outlets to give his analysis.

Digging my man Sammy's blog over at Splay. We met about 10 years ago through the venerable F2K and he's always up to really interesting (and secretive) things. Among the recent is website for Supreme, KAWS and the newly launched BAPE.

Big respect to my boys over at Shook Mag in London, carrying the torch for Straight No Chaser massive. They've done a great job of translating the magazine online. I especially like the podcast and photo story on Bobbito and Rich Medina.
Well done guys.
