Late again but hopefully the music makes up for it.
Some big tunes this month including Trus'me's remix of LCD and a couple mixes of Kai Alce from Andrés and Dubbyman. Also check out Starblazers, a new band conducted by Recloose.

My friends Takaya and Lesley just launched a great eco-friendly bag company called Pokke Bag. They are very talented designers who work under the name Goto Design, doing projects for diverse clients like Takashi Murakami and the Gagosian Gallery. Last month I agreed to be part of some photos to help promote the launch of the bag. Respect to GION the photographer as well.

I was pleasantly surprised to see my friend Mike Abbink and his wife's apartment profiled in (and on the cover) the new issue of Dwell. Mike is an amazing designer and typographer that I've looked up to since I met him back around 2001 when he was creative director of Method, which he also co-founded. His recent typeface Milo Serif is especially nice. And oh yeah, his wife Janette's work is really great too.

I'm not about to jump on the fixed gear thing, but the design lover in me couldn't resist this. So clean, so geometric. If anyone knows the maker/model, I'll put a break on it.

Happy Birthday!

Earn, Andy and the boys at Surrender in Singapore have a new blog worth checking.

Essential Viewing: 'H.P. : Harri Peccinotti'. The work of the visionary photographer, designer and art director behind Nova magazine. He was also well known for his work with Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Vogue, and his classic Pirelli Calendars in the late 60s. He even revived his own typeface for Nova.

A very talented young designer, Eric Ku, gave us a visit at the studio this week.
I was especially impressed with the custom oversized plexiglass case he created.
It must weigh about 50 lbs! Good look Eric.

Shouts to Jeff for lacing the exposure posse with some copies of reed pages. A really great first (preview) issue-- you should all seek out. Be on the look out for the actual first issue coming soon, and check out the new stapledesign.com.

The first Recess at Governor's Island featured 32 teams from across the city squaring off at badminton-- and was a great success. Check the photos here. Next up, table tennis on August 22. Visit www.recessnewyork.com to get involved.

Check out the new site from Metaproject designed by Your Majesty, and look out for Six Scents 2 coming soon.

I recently discovered the work of photographer Asako Narahashi. I especially like his series "Half Asleep Half Awake In The Water".
