Here's a little interview I did for the new Converse blog regarding my musical youth. Thanks to Jay Lew.

It was a real pleasure to see Soil & Pimp live at LaForet Museum in Tokyo (thanks Yukari!). I've never seen such a big crowd dance and jump and sing along to jazz. I'm not sure this would ever happen in America. Here are some great photos courtesy of Dustin Ross.

A few weeks ago, my friend Recloose released his "Early Works" EP on Rush Hour records. I would highly recommend it, especially for one of his break out tracks "I Can't Take It", which introduced me to the vocalist Dwele, and also received the legendary Theo Parrish bootleg remix.
It reminded me of a special demo tape that I have kept since about 1996, when Recloose was still in college at University of Michigan and was dj'ing and producing under the name DJ Bubblicious. I'm not sure if there are the tracks that he famously gave to Carl Craig in a sandwich, but they still sounds really fresh almost 15 years later! Maybe we can get a digitized version for you soon.

I found a box of these over the weekend. Holler at me if interested.
